Indian football defender Sandesh Jhingan suffered a cheekbone fracture during India’s CAFA Nations Cup 2025 clash against Iran, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and FC Goa confirmed on Friday.
Despite the injury, Jhingan displayed immense grit, continuing to play the full 90 minutes against Iran, though India lost 0-3. Following the match, he was ruled out of the remaining CAFA Cup fixtures and returned to India for expert medical care in Goa.
“The AIFF and FC Goa express their full support for Sandesh Jhingan, who sustained a cheekbone fracture while on national duty. He is under expert medical care, and his recovery and rehabilitation are being closely monitored,” the joint statement read.
